Jim Burdick is a results-driven general management executive with 30 years of leadership experience across public and private technology companies of various sizes. Jim’s background spans diverse industries including semiconductor, computer hardware, and instrumentation for counter-terrorism defense. He is an expert in large scale sales and marketing deployments up to 900M in annual revenue serving commercial and government markets worldwide and has first-hand experience in the development and expansion of international sales efforts for new market development, channel programs, and strategic partnerships. As a business leader, Jim has maintained P&L responsibility and comprehensive management duties including engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, marketing and sales.
Prior to ClearVision Equity, Jim successfully led the re-organization and financial transformation as General Manager for FLIR System’s Detection business unit. While there, he orchestrated the turnaround of an $85M division with a loss of $5.5M to a profit of $11M in four years. Earlier, as a Senior Vice President at Gateway Computer, he led the turnaround of the Professional business unit, effectively transforming a $700M in annual revenue operation to $35M in annual profit versus a prior year loss of $6M in just 18 months.
Jim spent 17 years at Memec Group Holdings, a specialist semiconductor distributor, where he held a variety of positions, including Founder, President & CEO of a division called Unique Technologies. Jim assembled a team of 215 people that grew revenue to 440M with $23M in annual profit within four years. He started his career in sales at Xerox Corporation.
Jim is currently a strategy and management advisor to the C-suite of small and emerging businesses in Southern California. His efforts are focused on new market expansion, sales, marketing and leadership development. He is a San Diego native and alumnus from San Diego State University. Jim enjoys hobbies that include hiking, skiing and boating, along with spending time with his wife and three sons. He is also an active community volunteer, giving time to various organizations in the San Diego community.
